EmoryWire

Role: Content strategist, content creator, project manager

EmoryWire—the one-stop news source for the Emory University community.

EmoryWire is monthly email touchpoint, delivered to a broad range of constituencies— a list of more than 140,000. The goal is to keep audiences updated on the latest university news, events, and storytelling developed within the office.

The Plan

The above examples of EmoryWire were produced in early 2021, as I began my time with Emory. Over the next several months, I met with stakeholders, strategized how to make this touchpoint more meaningful to our audiences, and how this communication should reflect Emory’s latest capital campaign, 2O36.

The following strategies were implemented:

  • Complete email redesign that embraces the visual identity and tone 2O36

  • Shorter, more concise content that relies on capital campaign priorities

    • Student flourishing, research excellence, and faculty eminence

  • Audience segmentation based on age demographics

    • General version (>50)

    • Young alumni version (<50)

  • Deliberate approach to delivering targeted content

  • Emphasis on storytelling that funnels audiences into the newly designed alumni news and events website, together.emory.edu
